- Our diverse population is 41% Caucasian (not Hispanic or Latino), 27% Hispanic or Latino, 10% African American, 19% Asian, and 3% American Indian, Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian, or another race.

- Last Fiscal Year (July – June 2022), our unemployment rate averaged 4.5%. and 7.2% of our population has income below the poverty level.
- Nearly 1,900 Employment & Human Services staff are located in 39 locations throughout the county near the people we serve.
- Last Fiscal Year (July – June 2022), we served nearly 350,000 individuals, which represents more than 1 out of every 4 Contra Costa County residents.

- Over the last five years, we have assisted an average of 12,293 job seekers per year and provided individualized career services to an average of 875 participants per year from the Department and community. We provide technical program training for Workforce Services, Children & Family Services and Adult & Aging Services, and professional development classes for all staff.
- The Employment & Human Services Department is responsible for a budget in excess of $546 million; 6% is funded by the County and 94% from federal, state, and state-funded local revenues. We administer over 60 programs mandated by federal, state and local governments.
