Children & Family Services

At the Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD), we firmly believe that every child deserves a loving and caring home, whether it’s with biological parents or a chosen family. With a true passion for helping the young people of our community, we proudly offer services covering everything from foster care to independent living skills and beyond.

Our team goes to work every day with one goal in mind — to make sure that the children and families we work with have everything they need in order to accomplish their goals, feel loved, and build happy and productive lives. The kids we work with are our lives, and we are happy to dedicate our time and careers to their wellbeing.

Do not hesitate to get in touch with us today to find out more about the children and family services we provide. Our team of caring and hardworking individuals is eager to help you with all of your family and child needs

FOSTER CARE

  • Licensing
  • Kinship care

CFS is collaborating with other counties to give foster kids a warm place to reunite with family members. The visitation center eliminates past family meetings that took place in government offices, restaurants or other impersonal places.

ADOPTION

  • Family finding
  • Family maintenance
  • Family preservation
  • Family reunification
  • Family and Children’s Trust Fund (FACT)

INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS PROGRAM

  • Transitional housing
  • Homeless youth center
  • Homeless youth health, outreach, and peer education

EHSD has a special unit that has become a second family to many of our foster youth. The Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP) is teaching our foster kids life skills for their future.
